Have you ever experienced a "live" Benny Goodman concert? Do you listen to the classic recordings of the Benny Goodman Trio, Quartet or Quintet? Can you imagine the thrill of a young clarinetist meeting and talking with Benny Goodman?

Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, Alan experienced all this… and more. Goodman's ability to captivate an audience and take his listeners on an extraordinary ride became Alan's standard to strive for.

Alan Knieter
The 60s and 70s featured "live" music. Alan was right there in the heart of it…from smoke-filled clubs in Greenwich Village, to nightspots in Westchester and Long Island, people flocked to see their favorite jazz and rock all-stars. These concerts were a virtual springboard from which Alan built his own band.
Alan's classical training included studying clarinet with Leon Russianoff. He received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music, and conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood as a student conductor for two seasons.
All these experiences formed the musician and bandleader Alan is today. Whether listening to his soft, romantic ballads, the driving swing tempos, the Motown R'nR, or any other music that's really special to you, Alan has that distinct way of communicating. And he speaks right to you!

Alan spent years playing club dates and society parties in the New York metropolitan area, and has appeared as a guest artist in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and Boca Raton. On these gigs, Alan jammed with…and learned from the finest musicians in the business.
Fast forwarding to Atlanta, Alan formed his own band in 1995. After playing with the Israel Pops Orchestra at Madison Square Garden, Alan decided that it was time for his own musical ideas to come into prominence. Since 1995, Alan has been the band of choice as the members of the Atlanta Athletic Club enjoy their Fine Dining with dancing every other week.
Although a very private, members-only club, the AAC venue has enabled Alan's band to grow from just a handful of jobs in 1995, to more than 200 jobs in both 1999 and 2000! His music has appeal to the eclectic taste. The audience might be "Backstreet Boys" young…. or "Glen Miller" mellow. The difference can always be found on the dance floor.
Alan's love of classical music keeps him practicing constantly to provide some of the beautiful classical clarinet literature at wedding ceremonies, the Carter Presidential Library, or at the High Museum.

As a "musician for all seasons" much of Alan's expertise can be heard at the many wedding receptions that he plays. Not satisfied, until each bride has chosen exactly the music she wants for the ceremony & reception, Alan feels that his service is paramount to brides, wedding coordinators and event planners. There's never a lack of time, energy, or patience, when it comes to Alan's helping to plan the musical enhancement for that special event. After performing at more than 1250 weddings, Alan still believes that each wedding client is a unique opportunity to become more creative.
